How many Pakistanis departed for the UAE in H1 2026?

50,773 Pakistanis departed for the UAE in H1 2026, about 16% of the 317,436 who left for jobs in that period, ranking it second after Saudi Arabia (Bureau of Emigration plus Overseas Employment Corporation, via TechJuice). Before you accept any offer, verify it with MOHRE, the UAE labour ministry.

This page is a country guide built only from our 2026 research. It does not list pay tables. Real pay depends on the job, the employer and the written contract, so use the salary calculator and the live listings above instead of trusting a number in an article.

What does the research say about hiring in the UAE?

Hiring in the Gulf is led by construction, oil and gas, hospitality, healthcare, technology and renewable energy (DSS HR, and a Gulf News roles roundup from July 2025). Those sources describe the whole GCC, not the UAE alone, and our research found no count of Pakistani workers by occupation. So treat the list below as a guide to where demand sits, not as a UAE vacancy count.

Sector detail from the same sources: construction and infrastructure need masons, electricians, welders, steel-fixers and site supervisors. Oil and gas need technicians. Hospitality needs housekeeping, culinary and front-desk staff. Healthcare needs nurses and technicians. Our research also groups drivers, delivery riders and warehouse staff under logistics, and guards, cleaners and technicians under security and facilities. That grouping and the demand ranking are our reading, not sourced fact.

Job seekers phrase UAE searches in specific ways. Hypothesised queries in our research include "electrician vacancy Dubai walk in interview" and "driver salary UAE per month". Walk-in interviews are one route, but the same rule applies as everywhere: no payment, and check the offer first.

For competitor context, the research describes Indeed UAE and Dubizzle Jobs as simple to use, with small and medium employers and entry and mid-level roles in the UAE. It describes Bayt as the largest Gulf listings database. None of these is a substitute for verifying an offer.

Healthcare roles need a licence

For nurses, medical technicians and paramedics, the research says searches involve licensing, and it names Prometric, DHA, HAAD and SCFHS. The research does not say which body applies to which job or emirate. Ask the employer in writing which licence your role needs before you spend money on an exam.

When do UAE employers hire?

The hiring calendar below comes from TalentMate (a Dubai-focused source) and Khaleej Times (March 2025). It describes white-collar and Dubai patterns. The research warns that Saudi and blue-collar demand may follow project cycles and visa quotas more than budget cycles, so use it as a rough guide only.

PeriodEmployer side, as reported
January to FebruaryStrongest hiring. New budgets are released and last year's vacancies are filled.
Ramadan (19 February to 22 March in 2026; about early February to early March in 2027, approximate)Sources disagree. TalentMate reports reduced hours and fewer postings. Bayt and recruiters quoted by Khaleej Times say hiring stays strong.
April to MayHiring resumes after Ramadan.
June to AugustSummer slowdown. Extreme heat and school holidays, with hiring postponed to September.
September to NovemberThird major wave. Projects restart and urgent hiring appears in education, hospitality, finance, IT and healthcare.
DecemberSlow. Budget closure and holidays.

Our full seasonality notes are in when to apply for Gulf jobs, and the wider picture is in the 2026 Gulf jobs market for Pakistanis.

Is a UAE job the right choice for you?

It depends on your situation and your biggest fear. Our research does not compare pay between countries, so we cannot say the UAE pays more or less than Saudi Arabia or Qatar. What it does give is a picture of what each type of worker worries about. The points below are our reading of that, not survey results.

  • First job abroad. The main fear is losing savings to a fake agent. The UAE has one clear official check (MOHRE) that you can run yourself before paying anyone.
  • Skilled trades. Electricians, welders, drivers and technicians worry about contract substitution and trade tests. Get the job title, pay and duties in writing and compare them with what the recruiter said on the phone.
  • Already in the Gulf. If you are on a UAE residence visa, the reported Federal Law 33/2021 job-change rule and 90-day grace period matter most. Confirm both with MOHRE before you resign.
  • Family members. If you are checking a relative's offer, ask for the offer document and look for the serial number and barcode. Do not send money for the relative.
  • Returning after rejection or deportation. The research names blacklist and repeat rejection as the fear but gives no procedure. Ask the official channels directly rather than paying an "agent" who promises to clear it.

Decision tip: write down the offer as you understand it (job title, pay, hours, housing, contract length) and ask the employer to confirm each line in writing. If the written offer differs from the phone offer, treat that as your answer.

What are your job-change and exit rights in the UAE?

As reported by AYK Global, a secondary source: you can change jobs under Federal Law 33/2021, there is a 90-day grace period after termination, no exit permit is needed, and passport retention is prohibited although enforcement is uneven. Confirm every item on the MOHRE website before you act on it.

TopicAs reportedWhat to do

After termination90-day grace periodAsk MOHRE how the 90 days apply to your case and keep your termination papers
Leaving the countryNo exit permit, as reportedDo not pay anyone for an "exit permit"; check with MOHRE
PassportRetention prohibited; enforcement unevenKeep a photo of your passport and visa pages; ask in writing if the employer holds the original
Recruitment costsEmployers cannot charge workers (MOHRE, via Gulf News)Treat any request for visa or medical money from a "company" as a red flag

Domestic workers are largely excluded from these reforms, according to the same source. If you are joining as a housemaid, driver or caregiver, the research marks this as a high safety-risk category, and you should not rely on the table above.

"Enforcement uneven" means a rule can exist and still be broken. That is why we suggest keeping copies of your passport, visa, contract and offer letter on your phone and with a family member. That is advice, not a legal requirement.

For the wider rights picture across the Gulf, see Gulf worker rights in 2026.

What heat and safety rules apply to UAE workers?

Human Rights Watch (June 2026) found that time-based midday bans do not go far enough. Workers in the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar and Saudi Arabia reported dizziness, fainting, poor access to cool water and pressure to work through hot hours. The UAE, Qatar and Kuwait ban midday bike deliveries in summer (HRW).

The HRW report rests on 20 interviews, so treat it as an indicator, not a measurement. Our research does not give UAE midday-ban dates or hours, so we do not print any. Confirm the current dates on the official UAE ministry site before summer.

If you feel unwell at work

  1. Stop working.
  2. Get into shade.
  3. Drink water.
  4. Seek medical help.

If you are a delivery rider, the summer midday bike-delivery ban is reported by HRW. If an app or a manager asks you to ride in those hours, that is a reason to ask MOHRE about the rule, not a reason to stay silent.

Read the full safety notes in the Gulf heat safety guide.

How do you verify a UAE job offer before you accept it?

MOHRE tells jobseekers to verify an offer on its website or app, or through its call centre on 600 590000. A genuine offer carries a serial number and a barcode. If the offer has neither, or the person will not let you check, do not pay and do not travel (MOHRE, via Gulf News).

  1. Ask for the offer in writing, not only on WhatsApp.
  2. Look for the serial number and the barcode on the offer.
  3. Verify the offer on the MOHRE website or app, or call 600 590000.
  4. Compare the verified details with what you were told: job title, salary and employer.
  5. Check the seven red flags below. Even one is enough to stop.
  6. Do not pay. Under labour law, employers cannot charge workers recruitment costs directly or indirectly.

MOHRE's seven red flags

  • Payment demands.
  • An unrealistic salary.
  • Pressure to decide fast.
  • Non-official email domains.
  • Interviews only on chat.
  • Requests for bank details or codes.
  • No verifiable offer.

These come from MOHRE's warning to jobseekers, as reported by Gulf News. They are published for the UAE, but most are sensible tests for any Gulf offer.

The Pakistan side of the process

Registration for Emigrant's Protection is done directly at the Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment (BEOE) or through a licensed Overseas Employment Promoter. It needs your passport, CNIC, visa, employment contract, insurance certificate and medical fitness, and involves registration, welfare fund, protector and insurance fees (BEOE). The full sequence is in the Pakistan emigration process.

The News (2 August 2026) reports that visa-fraud victims typically lose Rs800,000 to Rs1 million each, and that gangs recruit through Facebook and WhatsApp. Its warning signs include guaranteed visas in a short time, unrealistic pay and demands for original passports. The full checklist is in how to check a Gulf job offer.

What should you do if something looks wrong?

These are our suggestions, based on the pain points the research documents. They are advice, not legal rules. Where a rule matters, confirm it with MOHRE.

The offer has no serial number or barcode.
Treat it as unverified. Ask the sender for the official offer and check it with MOHRE. If they refuse or get angry, walk away.
Someone asks you to pay for the visa.
That is the first red flag. Under UAE labour law, employers cannot charge workers recruitment costs directly or indirectly. Do not pay, and do not hand over your original passport.
The interview is on chat only and asks for bank details or a code.
That is two of MOHRE's seven red flags at once. Stop replying and do not share codes.
You are told to decide today.
Pressure to decide fast is on the list. A real employer can wait while you verify. The research says real deadlines come from employers, not from invented countdowns.
You land and the job or pay is different.
The research calls this contract substitution. Keep your original offer and contract, ask for the change in writing, and contact MOHRE. Do not sign something you do not understand.
Your UAE job ends.
As reported, there is a 90-day grace period after termination. Ask MOHRE how it applies to you, and get a written offer from a new employer that you have verified.
You are worried about regional tension.
The US-Iran conflict ran from 28 February to late March 2026. Gulf News (21 June 2026) reported overseas job demand among Pakistanis as "largely unaffected", with hundreds queuing at the Dubai consulate in Karachi at the peak. Check for dated updates before you travel.
